There has been a student newspaper on campus since the 1950s, reporting on news, sports, and entertainment. Back issues are available beginning in 1961, with The Quill. This was followed by the Messenger (1982-1993), The Hawk's Eye (1993-2003), and now The Hawk's Herald (2003-present).

Historical note
There has been a student newspaper on campus since the college's early days as The YMCA Institute. Unfortunately no copies of The Triangle, as it was called then, are available. The Quill was first issued in December 1961, as a monthly student newspaper published by the students of and for the students and administrators of Roger Williams Junior College. The Messenger and The Hawk's Eye followed. Since 2004, the student newspaper has gone by the name The Hawk's Herald, publishing weekly during the academic year, except during examination periods and term breaks. It covers news, sports, and entertainment.

The Messenger was first issued in 1982, with one edition published in April and a newsletter printed in the fall semester. Published once or twice a month during the academic year only, the paper continued to report on reporting on news, sports, and entertainment until April 1993. Series 4. The Hawks' Herald
The Hawks' Herald was first issued in 2003 and continues to be the sole student run-newspaper on campus. The print edition is published weekly, with approximately 20 print issues per academic year. The Archives keeps two copies of each print issue.
An online edition was introduced in December 2008, providing breaking news, story updates, and online "extras" (video, audio, picture slideshows and podcasts).
