Scope & content

This collection consists of deeds, receipts, memos, and plat maps concerning land in Newport, Rhode Island, particularly on Thames Street. According to the inventory created by previous Library staff at an unknown date, the first twelve items all refer to the same piece of land on Thames Street, which included a dwelling house and a joiner’s shop. This land passed through various members of the Wickham, Trevett, Dyre, Marchant, and Turner families of Newport, Rhode Island. The remaining items in this collection refer to land sales in New Jersey.
