Piece of paper enclosed: "This old time (1856) portrait of my brother in law, Nicholas Brown, the eldest of the family, who died in 1864, and of our dear, good and true friend Dr. Cecearini, I found in the little nook of her bedroom soon after she had passed away. Of these the first was, possibly, her favorite brother and the other, her friend of friends, who attended her so fathfully through many of her serious illnesses. Note by Rusha Hawkins on paper label affixed to wood backer: "The Duke and Duchess de Morny. Taken at Paris about 1855.
