Historical note

Founded, edited, and published by Judith Neeld from 1970 through 1990 Stone Country Press produced Patterns, a Literary Journal, from 1970 through 1973. In 1974 the publication changed its name to Stone Country, a Magazine of Poetry, Art and Letters. The press also published chapbooks of poetry. The focus of the publication, which was founded in Madison, New Jersey, and moved in the mid-1980s to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, was on mature poets, including John Tagliabue, Louis Ginsburg, Colette Inez, Maxine Cumin, Thomas Johnson, Jon Lang, Janice Thaddeus, Martin Robbins, Frances Minturn Howard, and others.
