Series 1. Writings, 1964 - 2010 (Bulk, 1990-2010)
Subseries 1. Manuscripts, 1974 - 2010 (Bulk, 1985-1999)
The Manuscripts of Michael Gizzi subseries includes both sorted and unsorted manuscript drafts and fragments. Although not arranged in any clear order, Gizzi's materials were physically grouped in folders, envelopes, binders, and bound packets. The groupings have been maintained and identified groupings, generally by title, sorted alphabetically. Sorted materials include various drafts of
Continental Harmony, a French translation of the same title (
Harmonie Continentale), numerous drafts related to
New Depths of Deadpan,
No Both, and
Species of Intoxication. In addition there are scripts of interviews with Clark Coolidge and Bernadette Mayer, and two musical compositions with lyrics by Michael Gizzi, "Punitive Possibilities" and "Treeman's Lament," with scores by Gerald Busby. Roughly half of the material was not clearly identified and bundles frequently contain poems drawn from a range of Gizzi's publications. Gizzi's groupings have been maintained and filed in an unsorted range immediately following the sorted manuscripts. Three folders comprising student work and a grant application containing limited manuscript materials are filed after the unsorted manuscript drafts and fragments.
