Biographical note

Susanna Valentine Mitchell Gammell was born in 1896 to playwright, Langdon Elwyn, and actress, Marian Lea Mitchell. She went on to marry William Gammell with whom she had three children. William Gammell died in 1980.

Access to the collection: There are some fifty-year restrictions on access to the collection, as stipulated by the donor. The collection can only be seen by prior appointment because some materials may be stored off-site and cannot be produced on the same day on which they are requested.
