The One Hundred Years of Women at Brown records include correspondence, minutes, photocopies of exhibited material, photographs (of which some were included in the exhibit, some were used for publicity, and some were not used at all), flyers, exhibit labels, grant proposals, and a report. The material dates from 1984 through 1992.
The records are organized in three series: Series I. Transcending Boundaries: Women, Power And Leadership, contains programs, excerpts, address transcripts and a playscript entitled "Going a Hundred" from the October, 1991, conference held at Brown University. The convocation speaker was Mary Robinson, President of Ireland.
Series II. A Matter Of Simple Justice: One Hundred Years Of Women's Higher Education In Rhode Island, 1988-1992, contains a proposal, correspondence, photographs, catalogs, and planning materials for various elements of the exhibit which was mounted in 1992 at Brown University. Also included are lectures by Mari Jo Buhle and Todd S. Gemes.
Series III. Other Events And General Planning, 1984-1992, includes minutes, correspondence, flyers. and programs for various related events overseen by the Pembroke Center for Research and Teaching on Women and the Brown Corporation's Ad Hoc Committee on the centennial year of women's study. Also included is a paper by Martha Nussbaum
