Biographical note
Lorea Standish Adams was born in Maine on 1882 January 31. Her parents were Capt. John Quincy Adams (1845 – 1911) and Emma L. Gregory (1850 – 1909). She taught school in Rockland, Maine, circa 1903-1906, before attending Rhode Island School of Design from 1907 to 1911, receiving a diploma in Normal Art. She taught drawing and art in Burrillville and Cranston, Rhode Island public schools for more than 20 years. During this time she also attended RISD day and evening classes, 1912-13, 1916-17, 1922-23, and 1933-34.
Adams died 1963 November in Providence, Rhode Island.
