Series Series I. Correspondence
This series contains the correspondence between Mr. Cornelius C. Moore and art and antique dealers he worked with. The correspondence details the work of the dealers in locating pieces that were of historical and artistic interest to Moore, as well as the financial transactions behind each purchase.
Series Series II. Photographs
This series contains photographs of individual pieces from Cornelius C. Moore's larger silver collection, as well as photographs of different displays that featured the silver. Moore intended on creating a catalog of the objects for educative purposes and commissioned Brian Pelletier to photograph the pieces.
The work of several prominent silversmiths are included such as Jonathan Otis, Benjamin Brenton, Samuel Vernon, Samuel Casey, Moody Russell, John Edwards, Samuel Edwards, Andrew Oliver, Paul Revere, Myer Myers, Benjamin Burt, and Simeon Soumaire. Many of these photographs were incorporated into the publication
American Silver 1670-1830: The Moore Collection at Providence College.
Series Series III. Subject Files
As an avid collector, Moore undertook extensive research of both the silversmiths and the pieces they designed prior to purchasing any one particular piece. The series contains the research materials used by Moore to verify the authenticity and history of each item purchased. Also included are auction itineraries and catalogs, appraisals, and receipts generated by Moore's purchases.
Additional documentation pertains to exhibitions of Moore's silver collection hosted by Newton College of the Sacred Heart, Point Association of Newport, the Rhode Island Historical Society, Rhode Island School of Design, and Salve Regina College.
