The collection contains annual reports, meeting minutes, and correspondence. The meeting minutes contain the reports of the meeting times and subjects. Annual reports and committee reviews contain information regarding meeting times and dates, the members who were in attendance, and discussion of major goals and/or projects for that year.

Biographical/Historical Note

The Committee on Use of Human participants in Research was charged with reviewing all research and investigations that involve human participants, regardless of the investigators own risk assessment. This included investigations that used biomedical and physical techniques as well as therapeutic, altercation of environment, diet and daily routine, observation, administrations of questionnaires and tests, and review of records. The Committee went through two name changes during its duration. The first name was Committee on Policies and Procedures Governing Investigation Involving Human Subjects, which was changed in 1979 to Committee on the Use of Human Subjects for Research. The committee was renamed again by 2000 to the Committee on the Use of Human Participants in Research.
