Biographical/Historical Note

The College-Alumni Study Project was initiated in 1967. The Steering Committee members included Ridgway F. Shinn, Dean of Liberal Studies at the time; Ann L. Hogan, President of the Alumni Association; Mary Davey, Director of Public Relations and Alumni Affairs; and Selby Gration, Director of Adams Library. The project’s aim was to examine the relationships between Rhode Island College and its alumni, with the goal of developing strategies to encourage and sustain these connections. Over the course of three meetings, faculty, alumni, and students were invited to identify issues with current strategies and develop an action plan to address them. This action plan included commitments to enhancing alumni involvement in recruitment, college activities, and funding programs, as well improving services provided by the alumni office. In the final phase of the project, they compiled their findings into a report, which was subsequently submitted to President Charles B. Willard.
