Godey's Lady's Book (alternatively called Godey's Magazine and Lady's Book) was an American women’s magazine. It was the most widely circulated magazine in the period before the Civil War. After going through various changes, it ceased publication entirely in 1896.Access & Use

Acquisition: | It is unknown when this collection arrived at Special Collection, however it was most likely in the holdings in the 1970s or 1980s. Around that time, the prints were removed from the original binding. |
Custodial history: | The original book was in the holdings of Rhode Island College Adams Library prior to coming to Special Collections. The book was withdrawn from the Library’s collection and book plates removed from the original binding sometime around 1970s or 1980s. |
