Biographical/Historical Note

Ambrosius Holbein (1494-1519) was a German painter, drawer, and printmaker and his brother, Hans Holbein the Younger (1497/8-1534), was a sixteenth century portraitist. Their father was Hans Holbein the Elder (c. 1460-1524), and their uncle was Sigmund Holbein, who died in 1540.
