John H. Chafee Senatorial Papers, Multimedia (MsG. 115.3)

The records contained in the Multi-Media, sub-group 3, 1976-1999, consist of 16mm motion picture film, reel to reel audio tape, audio cassette tape, video cassettes, and video broadcast cassettes.

The register provides series descriptions and folder title listings for the Multi-Media records of Senator Chafee, 1976-1999. The records found in these papers that date to prior years when Chafee was Governor of Rhode Island, 1963-1969, Secretary of the Navy, 1969-1972, and Rhode Island law firm partner, 1973-1975 were most likely used as research materials during his Senatorial years and therefore are kept in this collection.

Series 1, Audio, 1976-1996, contains audio cassette tapes, 5" and 7" reels of Chafee radio broadcasts, television broadcasts, speeches, press releases, campaign advertisements, and public service announcements. The tapes are arranged chronologically and include the subject titles.

Series 2, Video (VHS Format), 1984-1999, contains VHS videocassettes (tapes) produced by the Senate Recording Office, news organizations, political organizations, Chafee staff members, and recorded news programs. The tapes include Chafee speeches, news program appearances, campaign advertisements, congressional floor statements, and interviews. The tapes are arranged alphabetically by title.

Series 3, Video (Miscellaneous Format), 1976-1994, contains broadcast video cassettes and film produced by the Senate Recording Office, news organizations, various politically organizations, staff members, and recorded news programs. The tapes include speeches, news program appearances, campaign advertisements, congressional floor statements, and interviews.
