Historical note

The Art of Democracy began as a coalition of artist groups in New York City and San Francisco who were inspired by an exhibition called The Art of Persuasion held at the National Arts Club in November 2007. This later was the New York venue for the Art of Democracy presentation in the fall of 2008. Exhibitions were also planned for San Francisco, Chicago, Seattle, Atlanta, Puerto Rico, and other cities throughout the United States. As part of the project, exhibitors were encouraged to produce original art for promoting local exhibits and/or the project.
