Biographical note

David Sherman, a native of Rhode Island, began his research interest in Theatre by the Sea in 2007 while he was a Graduate Library School student at the University of Rhode Island. He processed the core Theatre by the Sea collection while he was a student employee in the URI Library Special Collections and University Archives. His research was focused on Theatre by the Sea and the Browning family from Matunuck, RI. George M. Browning, a farmer, opened his summer home to visitors and called it the "Ocean Star Cottage." The Browning barn would eventually become the home to the Theatre by the Sea. David Sherman is currently the Archivist at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
