Biographical note

Paul Buhle is a historian of labor history, popular culture, and social movements as well as a professor emeritus of Brown University. Buhle has published or edited over 30 histories of radicalism and popular culture including "Images of American Radicalism." He also founded the Oral History of the American Left archives at New York University in 1976 and is a co-founder of the Rhode Island Labor History Society. In addition to the Oral History of the American Left, Buhle created an oral history archive at the Rhode Island Historical Society regarding working class life in Rhode Island and published "Vanishing Rhode Island," an illustrated history of Rhode Island that encourages preservation. His current research includes a history of Jewish Americans and popular culture, ecological history, and vernacular visual culture.
