Scope & content
Within the Records of the Graduate Student Association, one can view graduate students' responses to University issues. Information may be found regarding graduates' concerns on improving graduate life on the campus. During the 1970s, the GSA focused on expanding library access, receiving better services from Career Planning and Placement, increasing available housing, improving communication between the Graduate School and graduate students, offering counseling for further education, fixing the parking problem, eliminating the health fee for graduate students, offering day care, and providing a graduate student handbook for orientation. In 1980s issues of concern included tuition increases, selection criteria for graduate assistantships, inadequate housing, daycare, and shuttle bus needs.
The records show the development of the Graduate Student Association over a twenty-two year period.
