Historical note
Frederick Romeyn Huntington (1905-1952) was born in Montclair, NJ, grew up on Martha's Vineyard, and studied naval architecture at M.I.T. He worked briefly at Charles Morse Boatyard in Thomaston, Maine, before moving to New York City. He was employed for a while by W. Starling Burgess, working on plans for "Enterprise" and "Rainbow" as well the triangular, "Park Avenue" boom. In 1932 he started working with Sparkman and Stephens, and continued with them until 1941. During the war he worked at a navy shipyard on the west coast, working on a variety of projects. He returned to the east coast in early 1944, moving to Marion, MA, and setting up in business himself. He appears to have worked on a mix of smaller vessels at this time, creating designs for Cape Cod Shipbuilding amongst other. At the time of his death, in 1952, he had been working with Luders Shipyard, Stamford, CT.
