Scope & content

The King Family Letters Collection is comprised of one Hollinger box of photographs. The objects date from circa 1850 - 1925, and formats include albumen prints, silver gelatin prints, and tin types. The photographs depicts individuals, pairs, and groups of people, either members of the King family or people with whom they were acquainted. Some of the photographs were created in staged studio settings, while others were taken outside a studio in a more informal setting. Included in the collection are some paper materials, most of which are official forms and documents related to the service of Philip Wheaton Rives King in the military welfare organization Foyers du Soldat ("Soldiers' Homes") that was attached to the French military during World War I.
