Arrangement

  • Series 1: Photographs
  • This series comprises over 3,000 loose 8 x 10 photographs taken by a Maryland Shipbuilding and Drydock Company photographer. The vast majority are black and white. These images document ships the company built. The company's photographer captured each vessel's traditional broadside, at-sea perspectives, along with various action shots involving people throughout the building process and the finished interiors and engine rooms.
  • Series 2: Ephemera
  • Ephemera that documents projects, celebrations, and milestones for the company comprise this series. Maryland Shipbuilding and Drydock Co. promotional materials, press releases, correspondence, and event programs illustrate "jumboizing" T-2 tanker ship, ship launches, and the Annual State of Maine training academy cruise. A history of the company is also included.
