The Gerald "Shep" Shapiro Papers include correspondence, programs, and advertisement fliers related to his work as a Professor of Music and the performances by both himself and Brown students. Also included are several CD's of music recorded at performances at Brown University and approximately 100 booklets of sheet music composed by Shep Shapiro. The largest work is the symphonic "Mount Hope in Autumn," composed in 1989.

Abstract:
This collection contains records of the relief work of Martha (Dickie) Sharp (1905-1999) and Waitstill Sharp (1902-1983), European delegates of the Unitarian Service Committee (USC) in Czechoslovakia, France, Portugal, and Israel before, during, and after WWII. The bulk concern their humanitarian efforts between 1939 and 1944; their assistance to refugees after the war (1944–1950); and Martha Sharp's postwar life, including her campaign for Congress, her involvement in interfaith efforts to bring Jewish refugee children to Israel, her assistance to charitable organizations, and her service on the board of and in fundraising for the Zionist women's organization Hadassah (1948–1999). The date range for the collection is 1905-2005 with the bulk dated between 1939-1999.

Abstract:
John Brooks Sherman (1940-1966), (Brown, Class of 1962) was a pilot during the Vietnam War with the Marine All Weather Fighter Squadron 235 attached to Marine Aircraft Group 11 at Da Nang, Vietnam. He was shot down during a bombing flight on March 25, 1966. This collection contains Sherman's utility knife and wrist watch which were recovered from his body by Vietnamese soldier Nguyen Ý Chí. These personal items were returned to the United States in 2016 after many years of investigation to locate Sherman's body. This collection also contains documentation about the investigation to locate Sherman's crash site, repatriate his remains, and locate any surviving relatives.
