Abstract:
Augustus William Smith was a school teacher, university professor (astronomy and mathematics), president of Wesleyan University and professor of Natural Philosophy at the United States Naval Academy. Smith's papers contain extensive correspondence with contemporary astronomers, mathematicians and meteorologists, along with several manuscripts. There is also correspondence between Smith and others concerning affairs of the Methodist-Episcopal Church.

Abstract:
Clark Ashton Smith (1893-1961) was a fantasy writer, a poet, translator, sculptor, and painter. His papers, which reflect his wide-ranging interests, consist of approximately 8000 items and include, among other items, his correspondence; many working manuscripts of his writings, some of which remain unpublished; financial and legal documents; published material consisting of periodicals of his own work; and other published matter which concerns Smith or which he himself collected. As with most personal manuscript collections, the Smith Papers contain a large amount of personal letters from friends and acquaintances, transactions. between book and magazine publishers concerning the publication or rejection of his work, purchases by fans of books and artwork by Smith (most of which he marketed himself), and other correspondence.

The H. Adrian Smith papers (1752-1992) contain materials amassed over a lifetime of collecting magic-related materials and being involved in magic societies and magic performance. These materials include magic trick descriptions, playbills, posters, photographs of magicians and magic performances, publications, correspondence, and magic society materials. The collection also contains personal correspondence and photographs of Smith’s life in Providence, Rhode Island, and North Attleboro, Massachusetts with his wife Anna Fuller Smith.

Harry Smith graduated from Brown in 1957, and by 1964 he had established his own literary magazine: The Smith. He went on to establish a second magazine, Pulpsmith, as well as a small press, Smith-Publishers, which published works of poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and drama. This collection includes correspondence, book reviews, notebooks of prose and poetry, production files with galleys and page proofs, manuscripts, and photocopies.

The Robert Holbrook Smith ("Dr. Bob") collection, most of which dates from 1936 to 1992, consists of a wide variety of materials, including an extensive selection of books and other printed materials; correspondence; manuscripts; business papers; photographs; certificates, awards and bonds; ephemera; and an assortment of artifacts. These materials are primarily associated with Robert Holbrook Smith and the organization he founded with William G. Wilson, Alcoholics Anonymous. It also includes materials associated with William G.
