Abstract:
The Immigrant Oral Histories Collection was a part of the Oral History Project of Rhode Island begun in 1970 by the Rhode Island Department of State Library Services (DSLS). DSLS discontinued its participation in the project in early 1974. The History Department, University of Rhode Island continued the project for the next several years.

Oral history project sponsored by South Kingstown High School and the Rhode Island Committee for the Humanities, conducted in 1977 under the direction of Linda Wood and Judith Preble, school librarian and English teacher respectively. Students interviewed seventy Rhode Islanders who witnessed and survived the Hurricane of 1938.

Abstract:
The Ingraham family first immigrated to the United States in the seventeenth century from Great Britain, with many settling in South Carolina where they became a seafaring family with strong connections to both the U.S. Navy and the Navy of the Confederate States. This collection includes ships’ logs and reminiscences maintained by members of the Ingraham family while on board serving in either the U.S. Navy of the Confederate Navy during the American Civil War.

The Arthur Crew Inman papers consist of approximately 1600 items, including correspondence, poems, fiction, drama, essays, galley proofs, and printed notices or reviews of Inman's published work. Correspondents include George P. Baker, Alice H. Bartlett, Gamaliel Bradford, Abbie F. Brown, Edgar Guest, DuBose Heyward, Walter Lippmann, Josephine Peabody, H. L. Mencken, Bliss Perry, and Edward A. Robinson. The collection also contains 20th-century transcripts of mid-19th-century correspondence of Confederate Gen. George Pickett and his wife, LaSalle Corbell Pickett.

The Intelligence and Technical archives are comprised of the records of the Naval War College Classified Library, which in the early years of the twentieth century, was called "The Archives." This record group is composed of three series. Series I is military and technical intelligence; series II, World War Attache reports; and series III, ONI translations of German Naval documents from the period 1933-1945. This record group is a research collection of material retained for permanent reference for Naval War College staff and students in the pursuit of their professional studies.
