Abstract:
This collection consists of the literary and personal papers of the poet James Humphrey. It includes correspondence with poets, publishers, friends and family; manuscripts for poems, novels, screenplays, essays and short stories, both published and unpublished; unframed abstract artwork, photographs and scrapbooks. The audio material in these papers consists of one audiocassette, two compact discs and eight reel-to-reel tapes. The papers are dated from 1957 to 2009.

Abstract:
The Hubert Jennings papers is an extensive collection of materials created or collected by Jennings in the course of his research on the Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa focused particularly on the time Pessoa lived in Durban, South Africa. Jennings published a book called Os Dois Exílios: Fernando Pessoa na Africa do Sul (1984) and an English version called Fernando Pessoa in Durban (1986). The collection includes drafts of manuscripts, translations and transcriptions of Pessoa's poetry, and correspondence with members of the Pessoa family and with other scholars. The collection also includes Jennings's own poetry, stories and essays in draft and published form, and a five-volume handwritten memoir about his life that he called the "Cracked Record."

Abstract:
Salmá al-Ḥaffār Kuzbarī (1923-2006), a Syrian scholar, feminist, writer, poet, and women’s rights activist created this collection. Her writing and activism focused on the challenges of being a woman and gaining equal rights in the Arab world and draws from her own experiences. Her academic work focused primarily on Mayy Ziyādah, an early twentieth-century Lebanese literary personality who was a pivotal figure in the Nahda, or modern Arab Renaissance. This collection contains a host of materials related to Ziyādah (both primary and secondary sources). It also documents developing conceptions and interests in the Nahda among scholars over the span of several decades, by way of Kuzbarī’s essays, speeches, and books. The collection also documents Kuzbarī’s work as a feminist for women’s rights in the Arab world and the establishment of the Mabarra Association for Education and Consolation for orphan children. When she and her husband served in the Syrian embassy in Spain, she promoted the Arab literature of Spain. She corresponded with the important writers, poets and scholars of the Arab world. Of note also is correspondence from the poet Nizār Qabbānī. The materials include Kuzbarī’s correspondence and journals, speeches she delivered at various conferences, articles, and press clippings both written by and about her, plays and dramas, poetry, and novels. The materials are in Arabic with some in French, Spanish, and English.

Edward De Forest Metcalf (1924-1968) was a Providence writer of poetry and short stories. Metcalf's papers contain numerous drafts and fragments as well as complete literary works. Included in the papers is a compilation Edward De Forest Metcalf's writings that was published after his death by his father, George T. Metcalf.

Abstract:
This collection contains the papers of poet Richard N. Wilmarth. After completing his B.A. and M.A. in English at the University of Rhode Island in 1991, Wilmarth moved to Boulder, Colorado. He established Dead Metaphor Press which published his own work, and poetry based on the results of an annual (1995-2003) chapbook contest. This collection contains published reviews of Wilmarth's poetry, a limited number of publications that contain his poetry, appointment books, news clippings, and obituaries; preliminary versions of published and unpublished materials; handwritten drafts and revisions of his poetry, notebooks contain examples of self-reflection and personal commentary, observations on people, places, and experiences, and outlines for his writings; and his correspondence.

Hoffman Price, Clark Ashton Smith, and Donald Wandrei among many others.
