Abstract:
The Thomas F. Banchoff papers (1935-2012, bulk 1963-1997) contain administrative, research, and teaching materials relating to Professor Banchoff's tenure as a professor of mathematics at Brown University. Included are correspondence, lecture and research notes, manuscripts, course syllabi and exams, and records of various faculty and university committees of which he was a member. The papers also include records from Professor Banchoff's term as acting Dean of Student Affairs at Brown (1971-1972) that reflect the racial and political campus issues of the time.

Written mostly at Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, in the five months preceding his marriage to Sophie Tazewell. One of two photocopies made by the author. "No other photocopies will be made." Also includes a memo written in 1948 to Mr. Hawkes from Thomas J. Wilson regarding a book idea on the subject of e.e. cummings and a listing of John Hawkes books being sold by Clouds Hill Books in 2000.

These papers represent the intellectual and professional corpus of medieval historian, and Brown University professor, David Herlihy. Herlihy is considered a pioneer in the use of computers to analyze historical data to extrapolate socioeconomic trends and their impact on life during the middle ages. The collection includes Herlihy's research notebooks, notes, computer code books, pre-published and un-published drafts of articles and monographs, his Ph.D. dissertation, reviews of his publications, lecture notes and teaching materials, professional correspondence, papers documenting professional activities, speeches and addresses, photographs, and miscellaneous personal ephemera and papers.

The Ezekiel Gilman Robinson papers primarily contain the business correspondence of Robinson during his presidency at Brown University between 1872 and 1889. This article was meant to be a supplement to Robinson’s autobiography but it was never published.
