Abstract:
The Michael Bhatia papers contain materials related to his research, humanitarian work, and education. Among the most important materials are the notebooks Bhatia kept while in Afghanistan on a humanitarian mission. It also includes papers written for courses at Brown University, syllabi for classes taught or taken by Bhatia, maps of the Western Sahara region and of Afghanistan, posters from the 2004 democratic election in Afghanistan and many articles and chapters from books used by Bhatia for his research on the causes of war, humanitarian aid, refugees, the military and American culture, and various 20th and 21st century conflicts notably Somalia, Rwanda, Kosovo, Bosnia and Afghanistan.

Abstract:
The Robert F. Cohen, Jr. papers relate to his activist work as a student at Brown from 1964-1968, and as a community organizer in Providence and other Rhode Island communities, and New York City around welfare rights, housing discrimination and education between 1966-1972. The collection contains original materials created in the context of this work, including press releases, research notes, minutes of meetings, leaflets, and other organizing materials, as well as news clippings covering the actual events. There is also an extensive collection of publications from progressive organizations.

Abstract:
Collection consists of Kevorkian’s personal photographs, which document his life, family, and community mostly in and around Providence and Cranston, Rhode Island from the 1920s through about 1960. The collection also includes correspondence while Kevorkian was in naval training in 1942, as well as publications of Providence Technical High School and Roger Williams Junior High School.
